Summary of our activities from 2006 to 2008
Following the launch of our partnership
plan with the Ibadan
North Local Government in 2006 we have successfully carried out
the following activities:
- Participation in neighborhood meetings such as that of
Community Development Associations, Community Development
Council (CDC), Ward Development Council and the Yemetu Community
Urban Project Development Association.
- Formation of the Bibire Farmers Association by members of
the community in line with our plan on economic development.
- We received in the community the Local Government's Director
of Agriculture who paid us a courtesy visit in order to
ascertain our activities
- Monitored the January 15th Local Government under the
auspices of JDPC Ibadan.
- Zonal coordinators appointed to coordinate our activities in
different parts of the community.
- Constitution of vigilante groups/committee in order to meet
our targets on security as embedded in the partnership plan.
- Representation at the Police relations committee meetings
- Visit of officials of the World Health Organization to
community leaders to assist in mobilizing mothers to get their
children immunized.
March 2006
In
the month of March, as a prelude to the beginning of the
Institutionalizing Anti-corruption practices for the establishment
of democratic controls in south western states culminating in the
establishment of the Ibadan North Community Partnership Project,
series of Consultative meetings were held with stakeholders within
the Yemetu Community and the Ibadan North Local Government officials
in charge of administration and community development to input into
the project.
March 8-10th - the project team consulted with the Yemetu
community, local government and the police on the neigbourhood watch
component of the workshop.
From the 15th-17th of March, workshops were held to build the
capacity of stakeholders on different issues ranging from
Neighbourhood Watch, LEEDS, Budget Monitoring and Tracking through to
ICT methodologies, Police community relations.

50 Participants, CDAs & CBOs from the community, Organized Private
Sector (MTN) Association of Performing Artists (PMAN), DFID - SLPG
and officials of the Ibadan North Local Government, at the workshop
had the opportunity of breaking into groups to discuss further on
issues as it relates to Health, Housing, Education skills, ICT
technologies, Transportation, Community policing and security.
At the end of the workshop a Communiqué was issued outlining the
observations and recommendations of the participants.
