Total Women Empowerment and Re-orientation (Tower Foundation) held Public Lecture and Official Launching at LTV 8, Agindigbi, Ikeja. The Foundation under Barrister (Mss.) As part of ongoing efforts to immortalize Alhaja Kudirat Abiola as a woman who fought to see her husband’s dream of democracy in Nigeria realized as a result of the military annulment of June 12, 1993, general elections, a Lagos-based NGO named after her, Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND) rolled out the drums to remind women that the battle to actualize Beijing’s Declaration to have 30% representation reserved for women in governance should be intensified. According to Mrs. Amy Oyekunle, KIND Programme Manager, representation in decision-making is a right for which Nigerians fought for and most recently, during the struggle to end military rule. Pre-Summit Workshop & Media Roundtable on Gender Accountability and Mandate Protection in Southwest of Nigeria was held at Women Development Centre, Pen Cinema, Agege, Lagos. Financed by Joint Donor Basket Fund (JDBF) and organised by the Women Advocates Research & Documentation Centre (WARDC) a member of NNNGO, under Mrs. Biola Abiola. Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs-organised the Submission of Memoranda on the Child’s Health Bill at the State House of Assembly, Alausa. The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of the Child’s Rights Bill. 16-May, 2007
The Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) 2nd Annual Professor Ransome-Kuti International Policy Dialogue in Primary Health Care and Reproductive Health took place in Abuja. The keynote address on “Why Should Africa’s Woman Continue Crying For Life,” was delivered by Prof. Fredrick Torgbor Sai – Presidential Advisor: Population, Reproductive Health & HIV/AIDS to the President of Ghana. 3 May, 2007
